  • Best Friends :)

Poor Meika has a bit of an upset stomach and diarrhoea, we tried so hard over Christmas to stop her eating anything bad and we thought we did a good job until yesterday, while 30 minutes into a 4 hour drive home, we had a dog and a car seat covered in runny poo- has any body else ever had to wash a dog off in the sink of a public toilet at a busy park?

We took her to the vet this morning and she's on some probiotics (through a syringe because she won't drink) and some tablets so will be just fine. My brother filleted some fish in the back yard on Boxing Day so I'm guessing he dropped some and she cleaned it up.

But I just wanted to say how sweet it is that Molly is looking out for her, last night they were asleep in the garage and Molly woke me up barking about 4 times, each of those times I had a fresh little accident of Meika's to clean up and Molly would sit there looking so proud that she got help (and probably happy the smell was gone). I've been watching them for the last few hours and every now and then Molly will go over to Meika and give her a lick and a sniff. I'm so glad that we have such sweet dogs who get along so well!

I'm attaching a photo of how I just found them outside, little miss sick and her best friend watching over her

That brought a lump to my throat.

Hope Meika is over her upset tum & bowel.

Misha sympathises too. I wasn't concerned about the fam giving her tidbits on christmas day, but I learned my lesson the hard way! It started with a projectile vomit at 11.00 pm, she vomitted another 5 times between then and 10.00 am. The diarrhoea started later in the day. It felt ridiculous cleaning her bum with baby wipes!
She seems to be AOK today.

Poor Misha! It's horrible when your dogs are unwell, glad she's better today! I was really worried about Meika because she was practically 'leaking' like she wouldn't move, would just stay laying down and it would just all leak out. But it's been 4 hours since her pro-biotic and no mess on herself or her bedding (thankfully because we're on our last clean towel- she's dirtied all the others) and she seems a lot brighter so I'm feeling a lot more relieved!

That is so very sweet, KM!

I always melt when Banjo licks the cat's wounds when she has been scratching. Though fingers crossed, no scratching since the last vet visit.

It's amazing how animals pick up on when the other isn't feeling so well.

A few weeks ago i realized Molly wasn't shadowing me around the house as she usually did. I called her back, just to make sure she wasn't into any mischief she came in and disappeared again. So i went sneakily looking for her, found her the garage sitting next to my cat who was trapped under the garage door. OH went to the gym and at the last minute the cat must've decided to bolt out! Thought it was so sweet how she continued to hang around him for the rest of the day to make sure he was alright as he was quite dehydrated the poor thing had a few incidences with her mothering the cats when they are not well

                How is Meika now K.M?

Misha was very restless last night, burping and farting, moving from place to place all night, then 3 vomits this morning

Oh no hope she's okay! Our poor pups with food poisioning! Meika is much better today, only 1 sloppy poo this morning (no more because she wasn't allowed to eat until tonight), and she is a heap brighter and is picking up toys trying to play but she's not allowed any exercise- I felt like the worst mum ever when I took Molly to the park today and Meika was on the verandah crying

Molly vomited 3 times last night, I was so worried that she was sick too but the last vomit had some bone in it so I think that was the problem. Thankfully!!

We leave for New Zealand on Wednesday and they're staying with a friend so I hope everything is fine by then, her meds finish Tuesday.

Fingers crossed that Misha is feeling better soon!

Hoping Molly & Meika are all good now...

My little man found some of the kids sour lollies on Boxing Day so he spent a majority of that day throwing up... Why do they insist on eating things that make them feel no good? Sour lollies! Goodness knows how he managed to get them because we were trying to be extra vigilant but obviously not vigilant enough...

He is good now, we are off to the vets today to get his arthritis shot...

I love how dogs take care of one another when they're sick. A couple of weeks ago one of my hens was injured and Banjo took it upon himself to make sure the other chooks didn't steal her food by growling at them if they got too close, she also sleeps in his kennel safe from foxes. Apparently the cat isn't as important he couldn't have cared less when she was throwing up from eating plastic out of the bin on boxing day.
