  • Beijing has gone crazy!

I cant even understand what the people who own big dogs in Beijing are going through right now!
    This is just horrible
I'd be one of the people who is locking their dogs in the house all day and taking them out at midnight!

Beijing dog ban seeks to rid city of breeds that are allegedly too big for city living

Hmmm....how convenient this happens right around the same time this pathetic country holds its dog eating festival.....

I'll never set foot in China.

The thought of any of my dogs being taken is bad enough, but then being eaten as well. Definitely feeling sorry for any dog lovers living in Beijing right now.

Oh Deary, Deary Me - something is really wrong here !

Now what about this breed ? No mention of that !

The most expensive dog breed in the world comes from China – Strange Guys

Or - do they come in miniature now ?

The ethical thing to do would be to phase out large breeds with a law requiring all banned breeds to be de-sexed.
Seems like China are still a step behind and if I lived in a country like that I would be worried about what else would come next...

Anyone who doesn't care for either animals or the human beings that own them must live a very dull, sad life

Mmmm that's true Riley! But that dog is probably not from Beijing. The laws sound like they're specifically in Beijing.
Hearing of these laws surprised me a bit cause i thought that the pet industry was quite big over there... perhaps i'm wrong... i dont really know that much about china

Wasn't there a thing a few years back to ban big dogs in rural Australia? Something to do with them 'interfering with the environment'. Lol. I think they must have gotten shouted down (those who instigated that movement).

If they implemented something like that in Australia... i'd be tempted to move... and take the dogs with me!

Poor people in Beijing, must be a worrying time for those who are genuine pet lovers.

                  Off track a bit sorry
I am just back from a holiday in Vietnam where I had an interesting conversation with a local about eating dogs. While I find it abhorrent. He feels the same about me eating lamb and kangaroo.

Yes but we dont boil the skin off our lambs or roo's while they are still alive.......believing that the more pain and stress they feel the better the meat will taste.

They are heartless bastards....dont let them fool you with thier B.S 'what about the meat you eat' crap.

Even if that WAS the case, that's not an excuse to do it. Meat is tasty anyway - without all that bull about it making them more 'tender'. They claimed beating them made it more tender too, whereas that's actually false - it releases adrenalin which causes the muscles to tense up (in a fight or flight) scenario, thus making it tougher.

Some information on Beijing for you:

                        https://www.google.com.au/search?q=b...w=1280&bih=909

Beijing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pets in Beijing - AngloINFO Beijing, in Beijing (China)

From what I have read, it would appear that the law has always been there about size of dogs that are allowed in the city centre. It just has not been enforced - until recently. Sounds to be a common problem wherever you live !

If you live further out - then you are able to own larger dogs.
