I breed and I do not take offense at the information posted. And in fact when people have spoken to me about breeding I have often referred them to various websites and the like so that they can read all the pros and cons and then make up their own mind.

Like all things these days there is a wealth of information at peoples fingertips and yet there are still so many unwanted puppies. We can only keep putting it out there in the hope that we make people thing long and hard.

I took the information as it was intended - educate; educate; educate.

Jeez that's scary. But I suppose if a puppy is so much work when you get them at twelve weeks, then there must be lots more work before you get them.

Breeding a litter of puppies is a huge responsibility.

There is the obvious dangers to mother and puppies, there is the obvious expense. Anyone who is breeding for the money is not taking proper care of their puppies or the parents.

Then there is the dread and I say dread of finding homes for your puppies. Lets take my response to an enquiry today. It was two pages long. I will invite them to my home when the puppies are 4wks old. If I do not like them they will not be put on the waiting list.

Since I am so particular I may end up having to keep puppies who are 12, 14 even 16 wks of age +. If I still cannot find a suitable home I am prepared to keep that puppy/adult until such stage as I do find the very best home.

If you are not showing your dogs, if you are not breeding for the sole purpose that you believe your bitch and the dog you have chosen can improve the breed, then don't. Leave it to the people who are.

i dont understand why you people bother replying to this post. If you dont find it informative or just find it plain boring thats your right to think that way (to be honest i didnt get through the whole thing as it was way to long) but really is it nesesary that you reply so negative? If your dont like the thread dont reply it's quiet simple really! Do you really think everyone is interested in all your threads? Hardly likely!

cleaseta (not sure i spelt that right!)...Forgive me to posting so late, i am new to this forum and still learning to navigate my way around things. I only read the 1st page-where the negative replies were and felt i had to say something. I didnt realise the thread had 4 pages otherwise i wouldnt of replied.
            Cheers Jess

But gosh Clea that post sounds pretty bad . Its virtually saying either agree or be booted

Surely a negative comment does not equal being thrown from the forum?

I would like to request that this thread be locked. IMO it's a good idea to have such informative threads locked from the start so that no reply's can be posted, only have the info there to educate & for people to read if they choose so.

Was linked here thru viewing of another thread which is current.

I have owned cats prior to my current boy,of which my girl only had the one kitten, and that being born dead which was horrifying to me as i was also then pregnant with my first child. I then spent a small fortune at the vets as she was still large and there were no more kittens forthcoming. The gave her a needle to induce things and nothing happened. I was kept informed and told they were going in for a C section and asked if i wished her to be de-sexed at that time. I stated that she would only have to come back anyway for that to be done,so if they were opening her up to do it then. It turned out she had no more kittens inside, she only had the one kitten (dead) and an infection inside her. This was cleaned up,she was de-sexed,and i was then able to pick her up the following day. The horror of that day still lives with me,and will forever live with me. This thread has again re-inforced my decision to NOT breed.

My dog will be my baby, and my friend,i wont put her (if it is to be a female) life in danger.

Thank you for posting a true, blunt, honest view on breeding that EVERYONE should read regardless if they are thinking of breeding or not.
