Pugs are thick though...... and pig headed... not to mention pug headed to boot.

I have a really ridiculously smart dog. And I actually find her much harder to train than my other dopier dog.

Barney is not thick, but hes not smart either. Hes a bit dopey, but if you have some food he is always super eager to please.

Pippi on the other hand, will always check to see what you are offering when you ask her to do something. And if she doesnt think its appropriate, then she wont do it. Yet on the flip side, when we eat dinner, the dogs must get on their beds. The first time this was implmented a few months ago (they used to go outside while we ate for a loo break but sometimes I cant be bothered doing that now) they were told to get on their beds and they got a treat. Now, as soon as Pippi sees dinner being dished up, she just goes and gets on her bed. After only being told what to do ONCE (and she has never had another treat for doing it either). This rule has been in Barneys life for a number of years and he still waits to be told to go there, and then tries to get off 5 seconds later LOL.

Anyway, I think my Pippi is super super smart......she even looks a bit smart, shes got funny "all knowing" eyes LOL

There was one that used to come to our park that my dog just flees from - because it plays too rough.
We have two Malamutes at Obedience with us and I do like both of them. they have a great owner and also go sledding up in the snow in Victoria. But they do need a strict structure and training.

We have owned belgian Shepherds, but the Tervueren much softer dog then the Malonois....They are a great dog for Security and really advanced Obedience. But are a very high energy dog and very intelligent. They also need lots of training.......

I would definitely not suggest either dog for first dog owners or people who are not prepared to spend a lot of time training their dogs.

But both breeds are great when well trained...........
