    Default WANTED Mastiff Cross...

    Hello Everyone,

Its been such a long time since i was last on here.

Since i was last on here we have had the very sad loss of both of our chihuahua's. One was stolen and never found and the other was killed by our next door neighbours. (charges were laid etc and we have since moved) This was about 3 months ago.

We are currently looking for a older pup or adult dog. We would love a mastiff cross ridgeback (as we have had one before) This dog would be a family pet. So must be used to children. We have 6 foot high colourbond fences and since all the kids are at school through the week i would have so much time to spend with it.
We are in the Northern Rivers of NSW. But can travel. We prefer the dog to be desexed but we can do that if needed.

I have checked all of the shelters in the area and they do not have the type of dog we are looking for. As we know what we are looking for and it will not be fair on the dog if we just say yes to a dog that we do not connect with.

    Thanks

Hi, I'm not sure how far away from the queensland border you are, but you could try the Animal welfare league on the gold coast, they have a lot of mastiff cross and ridgback cross coming through all the time, so eventually a cross of the two is bound to turn up

I'd suggest looking for personality before breed. Meet the possible options and decide from that. I've met some mastiff cross rr's that are nowhere near being suited for families.

I'd check Pet Rescue - PetRescue - find your new best friend!

Thank You Our new family pet does not need be a mastiff cross. We are also considering cattle dog cross (heelers or kelpies) or a purebred German Shepherd.

There is an organisation called "australian cattle dog rescue", which often has puppies available - though the website is not always up to date - would be worth contacting them if you want one of those.

And I second - having a look at pet rescue. There are usually heaps of farm dog bitzas there.
