    Default Poshie Wanted

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a Poshie (Pomeranian/Shetland Sheepdog cross) breeder in or around metro Sydney?

    Regards,

Hi Dogbolter357, welcome to the forum.

Any reason you would like that cross breed in particular?

I'm sure there'll be a rescue dog with a similar breed cross around town

Go to backyard breeders and puppy farmers, it's the only people who will be willing to destroy two perfectly good breeds for the sake of fashion

by the way, a warning to anyone googling the breed, it's also slang for something pretty adult

Haha you have to love urban dictionary.

I am wondering if it is a bit wrong to breed dogs that are so different is size?! A Shetland sheepdog isn't a toy size dog is it?

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.

Just loooove this forum ! Am learning soooo much ! ( Thanks for the warning - 'Nekhbet' )

Instead of using the 'word' that you have used - maybe just google - type in first - Shetland Sheepdog - then x then the cross you are looking for. Not that I am trying to enable you in your search - if you have your heart set on this type of DD. Just thought more relevant (?) choices may come up for you.

As others have said and I agree - DDs are trendy, overpriced, not health tested and breed by people that generally appear to not have the best interests of the dogs foremost in their minds !

There are hundreds of different perfectly good breeds of dogs available already - I really do not understand the demand for DDs. You can dress it up which ever way you like - but they are still cross breeds.

Have you had a look at the local pounds and rescue groups in your area ? Pet Rescue is a really good place to start:

I just dont understand how people can have their heart set on a dog that has so much genetic variety. A crossbreed is a mixed bag, even within one litter the pups can be so different in looks and temperament so what exactly are you looking for?

As for the lies of 'one breed tempers the bad bits of another', thats an absolute load of shite. It's not how genetics works at all, and especially since these 'breeders' use the fact the animal has reproductive organs in tact as the deciding factor of what should be bred.
