Default cheap and easy duck pen?

we have 2 very much loved free range Muscovy ducks who we are now having to confine due to their new habit of pooping all over our patio area!

hubby and i are after relatively cheap and easy ways of making a secure duck pen or if anyone knows a place that sells them for a decent price?

    im in perth area.. tia

Have you looked at the online dog run packages.

And I've merged the threads - most of us read by new posts or today's posts - so we don't need several posts on the same topic.

Oh the joys of duck poop! I have 9 of the things! It gets very messy here

I would suggest maybe putting lattice or something around your patio area (with a gate?), or chicken wire, though lattice might look a bit nicer. If you clip a wing on each duck then they should be less likely to 'jump' the fence into the patio, as long as they have everything they need on the outside. I've been meaning to do this with mine for a while. I have seen duck runs made with bits of corrugated tin and chicken wire, but I guess if you want to make them a run the cost will be proportionate to how big you want to make it.

    sorry about that and thanks

our patio area is huge so we wouldn't be able to fence off the whole area and we also have a sharpei who would need to be able to get under there for shade.
we made a temp pen the other day with some free lattice we picked up and they got over it and they both have wings clipped, they like to make things difficult we're thinking we might have to fork out the money for a hutch west pen for them, little rascals.

I once made a bird aviary out of old tennis court fencing pipes and those bolt together pipe joiners and wired on chicken wire. Wasn't very good on my hands but it kept budgies and chooks for years. If there is a salvage yard in Perth with recylced stuff like old tin, star droppers and stuff - you might be able to make your own hutch fairly cheaply. Though as best I can tell, Perth is the most expensive place in Australia - even worse than Darwin.
