I am going to make some envious here by saying that we could not teach Banjo to bark on cue because she hardly ever, ever barks and you can't really make her. She barks so rarely that we find it a treat to hear her voice. We both go "Oh, she has such a cute little bark". The only times she occasionally lets out a single bark is if she seems to think that the galahs are teasing her on purpose by flying up onto the electricity wires when they get fed up being chased. And only once in 10 months have I heard her bark repeatedly, when she thought an upturned wheelbarrow was a scary monster. Maybe she does have Basenji in her?
hahaha! I know the type! My mum's golden only ever barks when she leaves her bones in the front yard and the crows start eating them.. I think she does it on purpose though because you will give her a bone, she will drop it in the middle of the yard, go and hide in the bushes and then as soon as the crows come she will run out barking at them and chasing them, then back to the bushes and waits for them to come back haha
It took us forever to hear Meika bark! We thought she was a sound-less dog but then one day my partner came home in his motorbike jacket and helmet and she went completely nuts, placed herself between him and me and wouldn't let him near me, wasn't trying to bite him or anything, she was just moving around and barking so he couldn't get near me.. then she looked very embarassed when he took the helmet off haha Then we discovered that while playing with her, if we had the squeaky toy and squeaked it a few times without throwing it for her, she would bark, so we started saying "speak" with the 'chicken beak' hand signal (I can't think of anything else to describe it) and then would squeak the toy, and she picked it up within an hour. Now whenever we're at the park people that know her think it's just sooooo funny to just keep doing the 'chicken hands' and she just barks barks barks haha
Aww, that is cute! I love it when dogs talk. Luna used to 'roo-roo-roo' and make excited growly noises when I came home and I used to imitate her and talk back to her. I do miss those conversations.
So I got the clicker... and with the most positive way, together with treats I clicked. Hooch nearly got a heart attack.
He is petrified of the clicker LOL.
Oskar doesn't bark a real lot in general, but he barks when someone is approaching the house or door, the funniest thing is though, he barks at inanimate objects lol. Strange pooch!
