Ok so we are new at this, both pup and i...
What are some ways that i can help this process along?
During the day, if it is a nice day and the door is open she will taker herself to the toilet. However once the chill hits the evening air she wont even come when i call her to go out (unless its for play and even then it needs to be really tempting). I have stayed outside with her for 20+minutes in the evening only to have her squat 5 minutes after she is back inside..
I do admit that i am not waking up to take her to the toilet during the night, so she goes on the newspaper during the night - and maybe this is the problem she associated night time with indoor toileting (which as i type this ...bugger, i hope that's not what i have done) however the idea of waking up every two hours only to go out in the cold and have her whine and carry on and still just wee inside isn't my idea of a fun night..
I reward all manner of dribbles that happen outside and i ignore anything done inside, although let me tell you i would really love to just giver a good yell in teh aim for her to just stop it lol..
So what am i missing here, how do you convince a young pup to go out in the cold to toilet when there is no punishment to do in the nice warm house???
