My small 8 week old pup eco is a funny thing. I work at home so I'm lucky I can keep an eye on her but this is really like a full time job and I have hardly got any work done in the last 4-5 days lol.
The day will start off with her waking me up with her little bell ringing as she moves around (her box is near my bed). I also get up in the night if I hear her to take her to the toilet. In the morning I get up and give her a big welcome for the day, patting her and making her feel happy to start a new day. I then open the door and take her outside to do her business. She then runs around and plays in the garden. If it's a sunny day then she is a lot more vibrant but if it's cold she will usually be happy to come back inside.
I then make her breakfast, after she gets that I wait until she eats it and then I will put the jug on to make my own breakfast. But I usually have to go and play with her after her breakfast and give her my attention for at least 20 minutes as she plays with her toys and balls. If I just move back into the kitchen she will start whining but if I leave her sight and go to the bathroom or another room where she can't access then all hell breaks loose as she will whimper and jump up & down and make a lot of fuss. I don't make a habit of coming back when she is whining so she will learn it's not going to always get my attention.
Anyway, I have to spend most of the morning with her before I can sit down and start working. I do usually mange to eat my breakfast, even if it means eating it while standing up in her den with my plate in hand as she plays with her toys by my feet. Come morning tea time and we repeat this process as we do at lunch and dinner. At least the kitchen is right next to her den and the laundry is there as well which is where she eats her meals. I also take her outside many times through the day for toilet or some exercise.
I never realised how much time they demand from you but I'm also enjoying her company and I wouldn't have it any other way although I hope she will become a bit more independent later so I can go out for a few hours etc and she won't cry. I have only gone out of the house once since I had her and the neighbors took her over there as they also have some small terriers. I have to go out tomorrow and I hate to think what will happen as I go down to the shops for about an hour. I will try to get her sleepy before I go and hopefully sneak out as she falls asleep...
