We got home today after we were out for 3 hours. My $1200 dining suite is chewed to bits, power cord of heater (was not plugged in) chewed, reticulation outside chewed.
Before we left him today we took him for a long walk, we played fetch, we played hide and seek - he was well and truly exercised.
He has chewed things before but we close all the bedroom doors. He is an indoor dog but god he is damaging my home.
He has a doggie flap to the outside so he can go in and out as he wishes.
Please can you give me ideas what to do? I do not trust him AT ALL in the house anymore and I cant leave him in or out because no matter where I leave him, he will ruin something.
I rescued him from the pound where he was in a cage and the thought of putting him back in the cage is gut wrenching to me... please tell me what options have I got and if cage/crate is the answer.. what kind? for how long? will he get better and I will ever be able to trust him in the house again???
We have had him for 2 months now. I am so disturbed by him ruining my dining suite. No chair left unharmed. Reticulation will have to be fixed AGAIN. Dont know about the plug for the heater. I need to worry about his safety and our home.
