Well it's our turn for some B.S.
Nothing like what some other forum members have recently gone or going through but i'm still home alone without my mate. Really sux and its hard to concentrate on anything.
Over the weekend i noticed a lump on his elbow. It wasnt worrying him at all but it seemed to get bigger day by day so with no work today i took him in to get it checked out. Same deal as last time...couldnt wait to get in there and play with the girls who left thier desks to meet him at the front door and make him feel like god's gift to dogs.
Waiting for our turn he was met face to face by a GIANT St Bernard........first time in a long time he's met a dog bigger than him !! Luckily they where both as friendly as each other.
So in we go to see the vet who i request who's a bloody champ and it's not long before he's doing diagrams on the whiteboard explaining that it's a 'Hygroma' and he can try to drain it but if it's gone to far he can cut it out. Both requiring going under......Or i could leave it as it's not causing any discomfort and probably wouldnt get any bigger but if he accidentally tears it down the track they can be a nightmare as it's right on the end of his bending elbow and can be a bit of a nightmare.
So after some more questions and answers i decide to lets try and drain it and if needed we cut it out. I'm at ease with my decision and feel that he's in excellent hands as this vet did all the work on my Ridgeback 'Scooby'. Must admit to been a little bit upset taking his collars off and walking away from him......last time i did that i never saw my dog again
Had to remind myself it's nothing major but i'm always worried about dogs going under. I did grill my vet about big dogs going under for surgery and he explained the complications and what they do to avoid any dramas including the Pre Anasthetic blood test.
So i waiting by the phone now. A call about 1.00pm telling me all's done is what i'm waiting for, any calls from them earlier means the blood test has shown somthing bad so no early calls please.!!!
So if all goes well i'll have the big fella (sore and sorry no doubt) at home about 4.00pm. In the mean time i'll set his crate up in a nice spot in the lounge room so he can see outside and the T.V at the same time. So clad i have a crate ......best thing i've bought in a long time.
Will keep ya's posted and maybe put up a few pics...hopefully without the cone of shame !!!
