I think I have a love-hate relationship with public holidays. Without fail someone/something always get sick. As would have it the 12 year old has woken up with a massively swollen eye and the jrt - Java - has woken up shivering like he has been for a dip in an ice bath! Ignoring the needs of the 12 year old .. lol... not sure what to do with jrt.
Firstly, Java has never been sick one day of his life. He is the sort of dog who could get hit by a mack truck, get up, give me the thumbs up, and say "I am ok mum". I am thinking I may need to take him to the emergency vet which is 50 mins away. Is this being overreactive? Should I wait and see if he settles down or it gets worse? Paying for the vet on a public holiday is not an issue. I never have a problem handing over my husband's mastercard ...lol.
I am so ignorant I don't know whether I should keep him warm, cool him down, etc. Any help with the dogs care would be appreciated.
The complication to my dog's needs is the son will need to go to hospital today for the eye. He is a year out of treatment for a brain tumour so we really can't ignore the swollen eye. Is it rude of me to pass this whole mess (kid and dog) to husband and head out for a bit of two up ... definitely joking! As you may have guessed by now I have a bad habit of handling stressful situations with a good dose of bad humour!
