I'm Caren. This is my first time having a dog as my pet. I have a 2 months old welsh corgi puppy. She has been sleeping inside my boyfriend's bedroom with indoor playpen. At my house, she's sleeping in the laundry (just across my bedroom). I potty trained her to release herself inside the toilet where I put the pee pad and newspaper which I replace every couple of hours.
However, recently when I went to city farmers, the workers there said it's fine to train the puppy to sleep outside, the younger the better? Her doctor also said it's fine for her to sleep outside.
I have a large backyard with a large shedded area (half size of basketball court)
I set up a very large wooden kennel and confined it with a 30inch, 8 panels play pen. The wooden kennel size is for a large dog such as rottie. I put her toys, pillow, blanket in it. With water bowl just outside her kennel with newspaper inside the pen but I put it as far as I can from the kennel.
Can anybody tell me if I've done the right thing. I don't want to hurt the puppy or anything I read some articles online and some people have been saying it's cruel to leave a small puppy outside.
At the moment I kept a close supervision every hour. She seems fine with her playpen and wooden kennel. Sometimes I found her sleeping outside, but she started to play and lay around her kennel when I gave her treats inside the kennel. She rarely yelp or whine. She usually whines after she peed or release herself at night so I got up and clean it for her so she everything will stay clean.
This is her first time being outside. I'm worried if I've done the wrong thing. I really feel like bringing her inside.
Can I put her in the soft carrier at night when she sleeps so I can slEep with her inside my bed room?
Thanks everyone for reading this, your inputs will be really helpful and valueable to me.
