I thought I would start a thread for lilly....my 11 month old chocolate lab puppy.
In august last yr she went slightly lame, over the next month or 2 she progressively got worse. The vet originally diagnosed a strain, later on they xray and said it was soft tissue.....I later found out they xrayed the wrong leg.
I finally now have a diagnosis of fragmented crondroid process or elbow dysplasia and have been recommended surgery.
Lilly has never been fat, over walked, isnt one for jumping at all EVER and comes from a reputable breeder and lines with good scores. I got seriously unlucky!
So she goes in tomorrow for the operation at Rosewrthy vet clinic in sa, and has been given a 75% chance of improvement. 50% total improvment 25 some 25 no change.....they have said there may be some form of arthritis already present and she will need to be treated for it. She is already on a joint sup from an early age but has also started on fish oil.
I have just looked at stem cell therapy, and am going to look at using that for treating the arthritis.
So wish us luck, I will update as we go...........
Any any tips on keeping a sensitive lab puppy amused while confined would be greatly appreciated!
