Last night when I got home, my neighbour came over and told me that some sh*t went down yesterday.
My boys usually hang out on the verandah during the day, at the front of the house. The are protective, and generally bark at passers by (which there can be a lot of, because we live near the train station). They can't actually get to the front fence though, the closest they can get to the fence nearest the footpath is about 5 metres away - we did this so they don't "rush" the fence and frighten people.
Anyway, neighbour heard them barking at one stage, and then heard yelling, so she went to check it out.
She reckons there was a guy (in her words, he looked like the "wolf pack" guy from The Hangover), and he was yelling at the dogs. They were barking, as expected. Then he screamed and said "You dogs are dead". "I'll be back, and you're gone". "You're dead, dogs".
She ended up yelling out to him and saying "they're just protecting their house, piss off already". And he did leave.
Neighbour reckons that she thinks he was either drunk, or not quite "all there" mentally, but she said he really scared her. She almost wasn't going to tell me, but her and her hubby decided it was better that we knew. Now I'm scared. I'm really worried about them being baited.
My big boy is pretty good, and if it were just him, I don't think he would eat something thrown over the fence, but puppy certainly would. And I think maybe if puppy did, then Duke would maybe join in...
She did also say that they have been barking quite a bit, which I am trying to work on with Chopz (puppy), but this guy is not from our immediate neighbourhood. She/we know everyone in close proximity. So it's not like he's just a pissed off neighbour.
Eeeek. I'm glad it's the weekend so I can keep them with me. Anyone have any suggestions? I think I'm going have to fence them into the backyard.
