I went to a bbq today at a friend's house. It was the first time we went back there since this post http://www.dogforum.com.au/dog-train...portunity.html That was a bit over 4 months ago when Banjo had been with us for about 2 months.
There were about a dozen people, two other dogs and 3 little kids there, the smallest one only just walking.
And Banjo was so very good. She had a great romp with the dogs, especially my friend's lab. Though I did have to chase them away from the table a few times. Why is it that dogs can have a whole big backyard to play in but they always end up under the table?!
She did try to climb onto a few people's laps, but didn't jump up to anyone at all! So I could truly relax and not worry about her. I just kept an eye on the bbq to make sure no one put their meat too low down!
I did get a bit worried when I heard one of the little girls cry. I asked if my dog jumped up on her, but apparently the kid screamed when Banjo just walked over to her because they had just spent a week at a house with a dog that lunged and snapped at the kids. And as soon as the girl started crying, Banjo quickly changed direction and walked away.
What a long way we've come in those 4 months. One of my friends made a point of commenting on how much better she was now. I'm so very proud of her. And I don't think we would have done as well without the advice I got and the stuff I learnt through this forum. So credit to all of you wonderful people too.
