Hey everyone, before i get started my name is georgie and im new to this forum Im 13 right now and decided to join this forum for my labrador charlie, he's nearly 5 years old. He's the biggest sweet heart and the nicest dog, but when it comes to walking him he just turns wild. i was only 8 when i got him and i didnt care much about training dogs. My mum wasn't the best at training him and was pretty lazy too so now he is super strong and actually pretty scary to walk. i try my hardest to teach him to behave and stuff because i walk him everyday, play with him with all my spare time and look stuff up on the internet about walking dogs. He just doesnt listen.
He's become pretty good at walking for a while but as soon as he hears a dog he starts sniffing and the fur on the back of his neck goes up. But when he sees a dog he just goes bonkers, he yelps then he starts to bark and jump up and down, he charges at it and pulls me along with him i nearly got hit by a car once because he sprinted across the road and my hand got caught. sometimes when he gets close to a dog he starts to growl, it scares me so much. But the weird thing is when hes off a lead at the dog park hes fine hes back to his friendly ways and doesnt even try and act aggresive towards any otherdogs.
i was just wondering what i could do to stop him from doing this? i was thinking of getting another dog to get charlie used to dogs is this a good idea? because i know hes not aggresive off a lead just on one..
and sorry for such a long question but im pretty worried about him and i just wanted to make sure ahaha
