Today we had the all too common drama caused by my daughter dawdling at bed time. This was after we had had a 'group hug' with Banjo with lots of giggles. It ended with my daughter bursting into tears and yelling at me as she walked to the door of my room. At which stage I saw that the dog had quickly and quietly moved away from us because of my daughter's crying. She has gotten into trouble before for making her cry when she jumped up on her or nipped her in the face in play. No matter how consistent I try to be, I am probably more threatening when I react to bad behaviour when I have a child crying bitterly in my ear.
So I am watching the dog who is looking at my daughter with ears slightly back and eyes a bit lowered and very still. She just looked so serious and adorable that I started laughing. Which prompted my daughter to start yelling "Stop laughing!" and made her cry even harder. Which made me laugh even harder. But what made me nearly pee myself was watching the dog who had this "oh-oh" expression on her face when she looked at my crying daughter and then changed to happy face and tail wagging when she looked at me and kept looking from one to the other with the appropriate expression.
Fortunately my daughter saw the humour in it eventually and then everyone was laughing. Including Banjo.
