We took Banjo for a walk yesterday and on our way back we met a GR, looked like it could have been still a pup, being walked off leash by a couple. Now my daughter absolutely loves GRs so she went over to give him a pat. But of course the dogs greeted eachother first, mine very eager to play. They sniff eachother and then the GR jumps sideways, as dogs do in play. And knocked over my daughter who was standing right behind him. She fell on her bum and laughed. The guy grabs his dog by the scruff of the neck in an aggressive way, drags him away from my dog and leans over him, making the dog cower. I heard myself say something like "My daughter's fine" but I do know from experience that that is not really the point. What I really wanted to say was: "Your dog had NFI that there was a child standing right behind him, you moron!"
The poor dog obviously had no idea why he was being treated like that. Then the owner taps the dog's head and says: "Not much going on in there, I'm afraid". Poor dog. I didn't know that not having eyes in the back of your head was now regarded as being dim!
I have done a mildly intimidating collar grab with my dog after she knocked a child over. But she did it by jumping up to them on purpose!
I hope we never meet these people again...
