Not able to tell an emotional story, today but can share a laugh about 9 dogs, all off death row, (and safe with me),that I used to take to a loop of four linked sports ovals, to run around. They adored it and someone started the strangled scream of joy, and eventually, as we turned off the main road, it became 9 dogs in the back of, and on the front seat of, a white van, just gargle screaming with excitement and joy. I should have stopped it, early on, but I just roared with laughter. After a while, (tho' I was still unable to stop laughing), I did fear I was losing my hearing, so, as soon as we turned into the dead end road, and the screaming started, the car stopped. Slowly, the screaming lessened, and was replaced with puzzled, silent disappointment. The car went forward, the screaming started up, the car stopped. The looks of shock, of alarm, of disbelief... Silence. Start forward... Strangled screams, car dies... FOR DOG"S SAKE!!! SAVE OUR CAR!!! GIVE IT THE KISS OF LIFE!!! DON'T LET IT DIE!!! We did return to quiet, civilised behaviour, but I always felt sad about it.
