Hi guys, just a reminder to make sure you keep your pets cool during this hot summer.
I was at a dog show today and it was over 30 degrees, We had our gazebo up and the dogs were all in the shade all day (except when they went in the ring briefly) They were regularly watered and moved so they were in the breeze.
I thought everything was fine but by the end of the day on my boys last run around the ring he started walking like he was drunk and his eyes rolled back in his head.
I had to pick him up and run out of the ring (sorry judge) and douse him with cold water... He had heat stroke.
I was lucky that I had such a helpful group of friends at the show who ran around providing me with wet towels and cold water or else things could have gone very bad.
I know we all take care to keep our pets cool, but this scared the bejesus out of me considering I thought I had done everything to keep him comfortable.
He is fine now (thought I'm sure had one heck of a headache) but things could have easily turned fatal had we not cooled him down so quickly.
So please, be careful of the heat!
