I arrived at work this morning and noticed a dog on the back of the ute in our staff carpark (you need a security pass to get in there), parked in the sun. A colleague told me the dog was there at 9am when she arrived.
I got someone to notify the facilities manager who apparently went to check the dog, saw he was not tied up and had a bowl of water and said he'd give it another hour. It is now close to 12pm and the dog is still there!
I know it's not a huge issue, but I would never, ever force my dog to stay in the sun for that long, with or without water. It really p!sses me off. I called the property manager again, but he says there is nothing he can do and the dog does not look distressed. Though he agreed with me that he would never do that to his own dog.
I started calling the RSPCA to ask their advice, but then I hung up as I wasn't sure what I expect them to be able to do...
