When you get the kennel try and place it in an area where it can hear/see human activity, dogs like to be close to what is going on around the place, try and make the kennel in one spot and it's feeding area in one spot, pups like predictability and a routine habit.
The pup will most likely cry and whimper for a few nights being on its own in the kennel until it gets used to it.
Toilet training is no different, pups need to go soon after waking up, eating drinking etc, praise the pup when it goes in the spots you want it to.
Just scrub any accident areas with detergent soon after.
If you find yourself going through hell; Don't stay. Just keep on going.
