after finding another tick on my boy this morning, i'd love to hear what products you use and think are the best - i've heard none are 100% effective - is this true ?
we have never used any tick products on our dogs in the past (stupid i know !!) until we found our first tick last year - since then we used collars and still checked them. i liked this option as we used advocate which covers everything but ticks .... so the collars got the other box covered - sorta ...
i live in nortnern NSW and the back yard isn't bushy but i found a huge tick on my goldie this morning on his head ... my partner removed and said it's head came out too but i'm so worried about him as this is the 3rd one i've found on him this year ...(there was one on him while i was away and my partner said thank god you weren't here cause you would have freaked - it was about 4 times the size on this one this morning !!!) he seems fine and i hope he stays this way (all my fingers crossed)... the collars came off the other day as they went swimming w/ them on so that ruined them and i was meant to get new ones yesterday arvo and i'm kicking myself now !!
does anyone use the spray ? is this a better option ? my question is does it wear off if they get wet and have to re-apply ? because our boys usually go swimming almost every day at the beach so is it okay to re-spray every day ? or collars or check every day ?
i've gotten more ticks on him living by the beach in a tidy lawned back yard than at my parents place in the gold goast hinterland acerage/bush type area !
this brings up my point that spraying livestock crossing the QLD/NSW border is completely crazy as NSW ISN'T tick free and dogs and cats can carry them too so why don't they get sprayed ?? but i won't open up that can or worms ...
thanks all in advance
