But lets use oodles for an example...they have a purpose. They are bred as companions.
Sure they arent working dogs but there is still a purpose there so whats the difference?
Dont be mistaken...I dont like puppy mills as much as the next person. I also dont like people who bang litter after litter out of thei rbitches just for the money.
I just find it odd how we dont as a group question the purebred breeders like we do the cross breeders.
I am also home from work today so likely to be annoying all day LOL - cept when I go to my docs appointment in about an hour lol
This just doesnt happen to people who want to breed their purebreds.
Thats the problem I have with it.
If I came in and started postign that I wanted a bitch for Barney (he is entire, its possible), I would get no end of shit because he is a mutt of unknown breeding. It wouldnt matter if I had him health checked and the bitch health checked and had homes lined up. And it wouldnt matter if I had a purpose. I would get a$$holes for it.
Disclaimer: I have NO intention of doing that LOL
I think my approach to it is different as my expartner lived on a farm in Minengew (North-East WA) which was wheat and sheep. They and generally most farmers in the area had crossbreed working dogs. Somewhat of a kelpie/border collie mix.
Those dogs that werent bred were sterilized and from what I know of most dogs are health checked. Basically because sheep are these guys lives theyre not going to endanger their welfare by having unhealthy dogs - whether purebred or not.
not trying to be a mod or anything but hasn't this thread gone slightly off topic?
Whats wrong with going slightly off topic anyway??? Isnt that the beauty of forums....that you have conversations that sometimes go off on a tangent, then come back to the topic, then go off on another tangent?
No one is arguing or being bitchy...
