Ayen Chol, 4, was killed in an attack by a dog which had escaped from a neighbours property.
Police have charged the owner of a dog that mauled a girl to death at St Albans, in Melbourne's north-west, in August.
Ayen Chol, 4, was attacked by a pit bull that forced its way into her home.
Two of her relatives, including a five-year-old girl, were badly hurt in the attack.
Police say the 57-year-old St Albans man is facing eight charges under the domestic animals act.
They include owning a dog that attacks a person causing death and two counts of owning a dog that attacks and seriously injures someone.
The man will face Sunshine Magistrates Court in December.
