Is this common practice??
In a Vet Clinic, yes you would want the floors to have been cleaned and sterilized because you have sick dogs going in and out all day.
Where we run our classes it isnt a big deal, it is undercover but not indoors. But we are the only people who use the facilities for dogs.
I liked the look of that one as well. Ask if you can go and sit in one of their classes before you go, just to make sure you are happy with them and their methods for training.
A lot of R+/P+ trainers do not use check chains at all, because their training is all rewards based and no corrections. (I work with and am training as an R+/P+ trainer). In our classes dogs are not allowed to be on check chains or anything similar either.
Personally I don't like check chains for a variety of reasons. I certainly wouldn't use one on a Dally. Unless you have a problem dog (I would hope not as a pup) I see no reason to start them out on a check chain immediately.
