I think my dog is constipated. His feces are often hard, not in one whole log (in a few 'balls'), pale cream, and goes white within a day. He does look like he strains to defecate and would walk a bit too in that position. Sometimes it's like milk chocolate colour. It's often dry and not moist like how I think it should be.
I feed him a quarter of a whole chicken for a meal, but I'm now changing that to drumsticks as it visually looks like it has more meat. Not quite sure on that, and would like clarification on this. He also gets either mince beef or kangaroo mince and part of a chicken carcass as a meal, alternating with the chicken. Please someone tell me if this is enough meat content in comparison to bone.
I also feed him 2 Tbls yoghurt, 2 Tbls pureed vegetables (slightly cooked pumpkin, carrot and brocolli) and 1tbls of crushed egg shells every day. Either fed in morning or night. I read that pumpkin helps constipation, but not much has changed. Fresh clean water is always available and changed twice a day.
As for exercise (I read this helps bowel movement too), he gets 45 minute walk in the morning, 1 hour walk in the evening before dinner, and 30 minutes of fetch/tug every day.
I don't know what more to do to get the healthy feces. I don't want him to go on much longer like this.
EDIT: Forgot to add that he also gets the offal and fish once a week.
