Puppies take a lot of time and BC's especially take a lot of entertaining, but should be fun for the kids. Outside dogs also still need to interact a lot with their families or they get destructive.
If the only reason you don't allow your puppy in the house are potty issues........Potty train. I like to use the umbilical system and the frequent taking outside. And at night we always crate train our puppies. It has usually taken only three or four mishaps, before we get it together. And when my puppies make a mishap, I know it is my fault.
Personally I always find it sad when puppies have to live outside alone........To me they belong with us (the family). But each to their own
