So we moved in on Tuesday.
Last night, a cat rocks up to the door and starts meowing to be let in. I open the door and there is a gorgeous looking long haired moggy outside. I think it's a female though looks kinda boyish if ya know what I mean.
Fur is in beautiful condition. Feels a little thin but even though I have owned cats before, I havent had one in some time so I am not sure how you tell.
Anyway, I kinda go back inside and it continues to meow. So I open the door. It is super friendly and after some pats and leg rubbing it proceeds to waltz into the house. I am thinking what a cheeky bugger.
I notice it has a bit of an injury/something to one of it's front legs. Nothing major but soemthing an owner would probably keep them inside for just to keep an eye on healing.
I stick a small bit of dog food out and it gobbles it all down very quickly like it hasnt eaten for a few days. Anyway, eventually I kinda decide I dont want to encourage it in case it is someone elses cat and I am in effect "stealing it" so I shut the front door and proceed to go out the back for my next ciggy. Well blow me down, the cat appears at the back door. The dogs were in bed in the washhouse and barked and it went back round the front.
I went to bed not long after (it sat by the window next to the front door watching me all night) and suddenly it appears at the french doors off our bedroom meowing and scratching at the door to be let in. Note, it didnt appear at the full length windows but specifically at the door.
Anyway, I went to sleep. Didnt see it all day today but them we were in and out quite a bit then this afternoon towards about 6pm up it rocks again. Meowing and scratching at the front door to be let in.
I am not sure what to do. I stuck a bit of food out again but I dont really want to be encouraging it if it's someones pet. If it's not however, then I want to claim it because it is just such a beautiful cat. Friendly and super good looking. Even my OH who hates cats is quite taken by it, though he did say we couldnt keep it but he didnt mind leaving it food. I pointed out, we are here for 2 years and if it doesnt have a home and we feed it for that long, then when and if we move then we would have to take it because otherwise wed be abandoning it.
I am thinking that hopefully it is round during the day tomorrow so I can take it to the vet an dhave it checked for a chip, and also a once over for the leg injury and it's weight. I am also going to ask a few neighbours if they know where it comes from.
It looks healthy with a beautiful coat but I have seen strays who look healthy so I dont know if that is enough of a sign to say it has a home. But then, it is super friendly so it must be used to people. Also, where does it go all day? I don't know.
Anyways, just thought I would share. Maybe it's one of those cheeky cats that goes round gettign fed by all th eneighbours LOL (though I think its a little thin for that).
