A few months ago we adopted a 4 year old long hair German Shepherd. We noticed straight away that she had a really bad odour. But we just thought she may just need a wash.
So we got her home after a 3 hour drive and she settled in very well. But were growing concerned as her odour was still very bad and also she was shaking her head a fair bit.
So we got her washed and groomed etc and the odour seemed to ease. We get her washed every 2 weeks now and while the guy is washing her we also wash her blnkets and bedding. She smells good for about a week and then the odour starts creeping back.
Now the really concerning problem. The head shaking.
We knew straight away it was her ears. When we got her the guy told us to just wipe them out every few days. He had taken her to the vet and she was given the all clear. (we don't know if that was the whole truth though)
So we were getting very worried as she would cry. So we took her to the vet as i thought it may be mites. The vet said it was not mites. But did not say if there was any other problems even after we asked the vet said there is nothing really there.
So i am reaching out to you guys. Do you know of any tests or what i should tell the vet to look for. She is a lovely dog and it's sad to see her stressed.
I forgot to add the odour is not coming from her ears. We keep checking and its not coming from there.
