Seems like we've had nothing but bad luck with Abbie..
She was spayed almost a month ago now, by the breeders own vet. She still had her stitches in when we took her home and after two days of having her, the wound was very red, swollen and weeping. Took her to our own vet and she was put on antibiotics. A week later the site looked a lot better so we took her to get the stitches out and all was fine for a week.
One night i noticed a little purple stitch poking through her skin. Took her back to the vet. He removed it (said it was an internal stitch that her body was refusing to break down) and said all should heal over in a few days. A week later the site was still weeping and open. Took her back to the vet over the weekend and she has been put back on antibiotics and anti inflammatory meds.
The vet said if all is still not healed in a few days to bring her back and they will need to open her back up and remove the internal stitches themselves. It has now been nearly two days and things don't seem to be improving at all.
Now it looks like she will need an operation, which i am happy to pay for but because my vet didn't do the original spay operation, it will be costly no doubt. My parents keep telling me to contact the breeder and ask for some kind of compensation but i just feel like it's not really the breeders fault that she has had some complications. She is my dog and i am responsible for her, but at the same time, her wound quite obviously didn't look right from the moment we picked her up..
It's very hard to get in contact with them as it is, as they always seem extremely busy but i just wonder what you would all do in my situation..?
