Remember the old Robinson Crusoe movie?
I do this quite regularly:
Point at my hubbie, say his name.
Treat Schubert, saying his name.
Treat Marley, saying her name.
Reently we have started calling them TOGETHER to a different room/location.
Causes confusion, because they know we both have food but will only give it to the dog, called.
Sometimes it works.
I also want them TO GO TO.... "like: Go to Michael".... Schubert understands already and quite regularly does it, as he is welcomed and cuddled profused by my husband, when he gets there.
Schubert also does: Go to Astrid. And he finds me, anywhere on the farm.
We try to prepare them for a bit of "search & rescue" ... at least: pointing to and going to the person
We have some results.
They CAN learn this.
Takes time and lots of repetitions
