So I have started to feed Milo primarily on raw for about 2 weeks now. He's been only on chicken so far, but for the last 3 days I've started to feed him crushed up egg shells, yoghurt and veges.
Anyway... when I first started to feed him, he would chew on his quarter chicken (whole chicken cut into quarters), so I didn't think I needed to go and teach him how to chew on bones. He was a slow eater from the very beginning, even with his previous kibble. But recently, I'd say in the last 5 days, when I feed him parts of chicken carcass (not too small pieces, still fairly big), he would crunch it up a bit without breaking it apart then swallow the whole thing!
So I tried to go back to square 1 and hold onto the chicken so he learns to chew. But, I think because I've taught him to only eat when I say it's ok to with the food on the ground, he won't eat with me holding the chicken.
I am worried he will eventually choke if he continues to eat his raw food like this.
It is only the chicken carcass and liver (only started to feed that to him today) that he swallows whole after a few chews. He will chew and break off smaller pieces of the quarter cut chicken.
