    Default Water Bowl Problem

Hey guys, my silly shepherd wastes half her water because she puts her paw(s) in the bowl and flicks it out, making a huge mess and making the water in her bowl full of dirt etc. Has anybody else had this problem, if so how did you stop it and do you know why she does it?

It probably amuses her! Where I work we have issues with some dogs that do this, whether from water obsession, boredom or seeing it as a plaything. What we do is hang a bucket at neck/chest height from a fence, where it's more difficult for the dog to get a leg up and in. Or you could try a clamshell as well as a water bowl? That way she can flick to her heart's content and you know she still has water.

ours are outside so dont have the problem with mess but i use regular buckets and have a few out i have a bigish rock i put in one so its not so nice on the feet and they tend to leave that one alone and in summer i put out one of those shell pool things

i replace them frequently cos they get chewed sometimes but at 75c each doesnt really matter too much

What about one of those bowls with the water bottle upside down in it? Then she can lick at the water to get a drink but there is no actual bowl full or puddle for her to play in.

They're actually a baby pool/sand pit. They are in the shape of a clam, are made of plastic, and usually have a top.

    See pic.
