It would probably be against the ANKC or Dogs NSW rules too, but I don't see why you can't take your puppies to work, and have people come to your house to actually buy them.
But I think the best thing would be breeding to a waiting list ie you don't breed unless you know you have more than enough suitable homes lined up.

So if you take the puppies to work so you can keep an eye on them, you would add people who like them, to the wait list for the next time ie they'd have a one to two year wait for their puppy. That would really kill off the impulse buyers.
And tho I got my dog from the pound, I was looking - ie visiting the pounds for about 18 months before I fluked on the right puppy.
