Has anyone had experience of having a blind dog see again? My dog, Bunter, is having an operation soon to have his cataracts removed and new lenses inserted. Because he was rescued from a pound, we have no idea how long he has been blind, except that cataracts seem to have been there for many years. Bunter is about 10 years of age and a Pomeranian crossed, I think, with a Corgi as he is a very solid dog.
Naturally, I am going to have a further discussion with the specialist before the operation (scheduled for 14 June), but I would be interested to know if anyone has had a dog who had the operation and how the dog presented when he/she could see again. Anything at all, I'd be interested to hear.
I heard stories of people who have had sight to a greater or lesser degree restored and the outcome isn't always good in terms of their quality of life.
