Well With the promise of thunderstorms on the way I have begun to think about getting ready for winter.
I was checking out this seasons rugs for my horses and I suddenly wondered if I should get my Kelpie one too. And I also wonderred what other things people do when winter hits hard in there home town.
by hit hard I mean lots of hail, below Zero at nights and LOTS of heavy rain.
My kelpie is mainly an outdoor girl. For summer, her kennel and the huge shadey tree we have in our backyard has been great. But I am worried for her for winter.
I know Kelpies are bred hardy but for a kelpie she is tiny, weighing in at only 13kg. While she has no problem with the rain at the moment in our area it gets heavier and colder as the weeks go past. I will be putting extra blankets in her kennel, and turning it as best I can away from the wind.
But my main question is would it be a good idea to get her a doggy winter rug for the worst days? I have my eye on a few that are Horse grade winter rugs but scaled down just for dogs. They are very warm, waterproof an reasonabley priced.
Am I a big sook or might it be a good idea to get one?
Thanks for any advice and feed back
