I don't think you can pick a person's sexuality from their appearance. I usually have to ask. You can't even tell if they flirt with you.
And that would be my point. Ie for the OP, what the dog (or car) looks like has nothing to do with how manly he is. I reckon the more manly he is, the less bothered he would be by anyone who asks questions. And that would be why people insecure about their masculinity get the most upset when it is questioned. And a bloke can be very masculine, confident and secure in his own skin and g a y.
