I take 'manly dog' as one with a bit of guts to it. Jackson, our staffy, is as tough as nails. He does sulk when you tell him off, but you can play rough and run around with him and not worry about breaking him. He doesn't yap either.
Boxers are also great dogs.
I'm all for rescuing animals, Rox is a rescue, but they are a bit of work when they're a little older and have already been exposed to so many things. It's a different effort to a puppy. It's worth it, definitely, but not knowing what a dog has been through can be a challenge.
I know some men who have fluffy white dogs, I'm talking bikies with tatts. Men always despise the little ones til they get them I don't think there is such a thing as determining if someone is *** or not by what breed they have though.... Sigh. It's always the crazies at the park that come up with the best lines!
