Our 4 month old bundle of energy has a sore back leg. We're not sure what she's done and are wondering how best to manage it while we figure it out. Seeing as she is a puppy she just launches herself around and wants to play despite everything.
She had been looking very slightly stiff in one back leg for a couple of days and it seemed as though she might have caught a nerve or pulled something. Once when she was in the process of sitting down she yelped. Then later when she was already lying down she suddenly yelped and leapt up, as she was surprised. After that she seemed fine for a full day or more, with just very subtle signs of stiffness.
Then today we took her for a walk and the in all the excitement and skipping around she seems to have hurt it again. She is avoiding putting much weight on it, almost as if it's the paw itself that's the problem, but I can poke around her pads with little clear reaction. We have felt up and down her whole leg and around her hip for anything even slightly different but cannot locate any swellings or sore spots.
Of course we may have to take her to the vet if it doesn't come good quickly on its own, but how does one encourage a bouncy puppy to rest for a couple of days and give it a chance?!?!
