Yesterday, my daughter (we'll call her A) went out and gave the dogs their dinner and then was bouncing on the tramp.
She opens the back door all panicky and screams "Pippi's out, Pippi's out". I leap up and get to the back door along with the OH to see where she got out (back neighbour, that fence is rotten). She had managed to slip behind a previous repair.
I say to OH and A, you guys try to get her back this way and I will run round and grab her.
Half a second later I am out the front door and flying down the street.
I am still in my work clothes but with no shoes on, sprinting for my life to get round the block because if Pippi makes it out their drive way, theer is a main road right there and she has no road sense.
What I sight I must have been. Pencil skirt jammed up round the top of my pasty white chunky thighs. Unsupportive bra on and boobs flapping round everywhere. Bare feet slapping the pavement.
Anyway, I get there and can immediately tell she hasn't come out the driveway because there is a cat havign a snooze right there. I walk up the driveway and I swear I am going to have a heart attack (I don't really like physicl activity and I am a heavy smoker)
I go up calling out to Pippi. I knock on their front door and they don't answer even though I am pretty sure they are home (that's happened before too). So I go round the side and call out to A and OH in our back yard. No answer.
I walk home and the OH says to me "You disappeared a bit quick"
Turns out they went to the gap, called out to Pippi and she just came staight back.
I wanted ot be angry at her because I had run all that way for nothing and very nearly died but she's too cute and I was kinda proud she cam ewhen called for a change LOL.
I am just thankful we were home and not at work because if we hadn't been there, she would have escaped and who knows what might have happened.
Anyway, she is confined to inside for the next few days unless she has supervision and then we wil be spending Saturday attempting to make the back fence dog proof for the hundreth time (though they have only got out once before when two of the palings just fell right off - luckily we were home that time too)
