maybe not culled but not rehomed or sold until they are desexed because you don't want to be deliberately breeding deaf dogs?
No im definitely not saying that. I don't really understand how they could be considered 'rare' & be popular given they are prone to deafness. But then I guess dallies are too.
Goldens and Labs are prone to HD, Danes are prone to Bloat, Toy dogs patella problems... Breeders give them the best chance, but even with parents with excellent hip scores you can still end up with a pup with HD...
Does this mean they should stop being bred? Of course not.
