I'm sorry Myf many are treated very poorly whilst in work also. Money is disposable income & tax detucable with most in the industry & the real money made is not at the race track within the TB industry. Most retire with gut ulcers, arthritic joints, damaged legs & very poorly educated. It's a saying amongst the insiders that a horse only needs 2 gears & a forward button to race. Not every horse goes to the races to win also & a non winning horse is treated very poorly back at the yard even if that is his job to be a losers at the races. The money & curruption within the racing industry is terrible & many horses are victim to their crooked ways.

I used to sell feed to hound owners & they diffently add weetbix to everything & only those race ready are feed anything worthwhile but when spelling back to the crude.
You should just get down to your local track around 4.30 am to 6.30 am & watch & listen, you'd be very surpriced the way they talk about their horses & treat them. Just stay in the background & observe as I know every race track has at least 1 dodgy trainer.
