I don't mean to repeat the recent new thread, but I don't want to disrupt that dogs needs with mine.
Milo is a 16 week old kelpie. I got him at 10 weeks and for a month he ate his all his food until the bowl was shining clean. For the past 2 weeks or so Milo hasn't been finishing even half of the bowl presented to him.
He's eating Advanced Puppy Plus dry kibble 3 times a day, 3/4 a cup each meal. Ever since he "stopped" eating, I thought it was because he was starting to change his teeth so I soaked his kibble with chicken soup. For the first 3 days, he would eat the entire bowl only if it was soaked in chicken soup. After that, regardless of it being dry, soaked in chicken soup or soaked in water, he will only eat a few bites and walk off. Sometimes he will grab a few in his mouth, walk to another area and eat there.
I try to encourage him to eat but doesn't eat from the bowl. He would eat the food if i threw a kibble at him one by one, but to get through the entire bowl like that would take too much of my time.
I've asked the vet about it already and her answer was "just leave it out, he'll eventually eat when he's hungry". Milo sometimes does eventually finish the food but this happens about 1-2 hours after the food has been put down for him to eat, which by then the kibble is absolutely mushed. I don't want this to continue as there can be bacteria build up in the food left untouched like that.
However, whenever the family is eating anything, he will try take the food off us. So I don't think he's not hungry?
