I wasn't speaking about risks like not wearing a seatbelt, I'm talking about taking all the precautions that you can to make an activity safe. But sometimes accidents happen.

I don't think you should stop doing something if you and your dog enjoy it if you are being safe and responsible.
how many dogs get hurt in agility? weight-pulling? fly-ball even? there are so many worse things that can be done with dogs, for eg a dog not getting the exercise it needs because their owner is unable to run with them.
