And I have the same, I owned three pure dogs, one male two females and all i got is when are you going to breed? Can I have a puppy when you breed?
I would make the Breeder from hell LOL......No one would be good enough to have my puppies. So it is easier at present not to breed. Though my Breeder and Mentor is trying to change my mind and has offered me one of her beautiful boys, since Tobias had passed.....Time is not right at present, still too painful
Pets are forever
Sorry folks... Couldn't help myself.
I promise to be sensible now, lol
I hate to admit it but there are some ruddy funny mixed breed names. My favourite is a Havanese X Poodle... have a guess at what their designer name is.
My favourite book about dog breeding is this one:
It's old but IMO still one of the best.
Amazon.com: How to Breed Dogs, (9780876054116): Leon F. Whitney: Books
You better believe it... Havapoo
Borzoi X Afghans make interesting mixes too... BOGHANS! (bogans) Just like their owners *chuckle*
Now how did they not think of PooChi! Seems so obvious lol
Not too funny, there is a "breeder" in the US breeding "Salukidoodles".
You guessed it, saluki / poodles. Apparently this breeder couldn't purchase a saluki to create these puppies within the US as the breed community found out what was planned. No worries, they just imported one from Qatar.
Woeful. XanaDude Female & Pups
They breed a whole range of Doodles, and talk about "Doodledom"???? Cripes. Check out their site - it has paypal buttons for ordering puppies! And the "Guardian Home" deal where they retain breeding rights to pups?! I don't know whether to laugh or cry...
I thought that article was very interesting.
I didnt find it to be especially "anti" cross breeding but more explaining how to create a new breed rather than just crossing one generation and calling it a breed - if that makes sense.
Speaking of creating new breeds, I am always curious as to why someone hasnt attemted to create a mini labrador. Labradors being one of (if not the) most popular breeds on hte planet and small dogs eing so popular, I always though a lab that was half or even a third the size would be quite popular. Tiny but looking like a lab and with that temperament.
Not that I think anyone should create it necessarily but I am surprised someone hasnt tried lOL
