She talked about starting a stud & I thought there was bigger considerations than a name in todays finaincal climate & with all the stud closures due to bank forclosure, daught, flood & fire, I would feel very wrong if I did not share what I know about the industry.
I never put her down just asked some questions anyone starting a breeding programe should be able to answer.
I can see how others are worried though because no finaical situation can have that fast a turn around & know it's a stable enough to start this sort of bussiness. Again I am not being mean just practical & very honest.
Do you know what it cost to get the vet out in the middle of the night for a foaling?
My vet bill for the horses alone without any other animals would easy be 8 grand a year. And I am lucky to be able to do alot of the AI & scanning myself.
I am truely sorry if your upset by my or any op replies but again I have to say I would feel very wrong if I didn't share the pitfalls I know of.
Yep foals are adorable & seeing your goals start to take shape in your breedings is great but the having to hang on to youngstock so long it drains all profit sux.
