Thought I would tell everyone about my rather eventful morning... From a post on another forum....
This morning the next door neighbour came over to say that her puppy had died this morning with what she thought was parvo, being lethargic and hot for days and also he had bleeding out the anus, penis ans mouth this morning. She has burned everything that he was in contact with. Lacey hasn't been in contact with this dog, but I have and she has been in contact with this dogs urine and faeces. I have called the vets, all of them, and informed them of this, and have called my friends with dogs and let them know of this. We don't get paid until this Friday so again we are running low on funds but one friend that we took Lacey to meet has said that she will pay for whatever we need to do until we can pay her back.
I called the vets, and will get some F10 and will burn Lacey's bedding, and clean all of the shoes and have a bucket of disinfectant that people will have to stand in before they enter the house. Lacey is going to the vets this afternoon for the parvo test and vaccinations, she was due tomorrow anyway. I'm getting the test, I need to know if I am going to lose her. To be honest I don't think I would be able to find the strength to live through her dying.
What else should I do?
Just got back.
Left her in the car, he came out and took a rectal swab. Waited fifteen minutes, and when he came back, all I heard was 'buzz buzz buzz buzz negative.' I think I lost about ten years of my life with worry. I've probably gone prematurely grey. We got her vaccinations and also the lepto jab, and he gave her a clean bill of health. I am so relieved, my heart was thumping so hard, it almost hurt.
Will go and clean up all the dog crap outside after its stoped raining, she also isn't allowed to go on the grass, she has to go to the toilet out the back in the carport which is where she goes anyway when it rains.
